About When the Body Speaks
Liz Tenuto’s When the Body Speaks is a clear, compassionate guide to understanding your nervous system and changing how your body responds to stress. Written by and for women who’ve been through too much, this book gives language, context, and relief to experiences that never made sense before.
As a survivor of sexual abuse and domestic violence, Liz spent decades in survival mode which showed up as chronic pain, insomnia, and unexplained health issues. Nothing gave her long-term relief until she discovered somatic exercise. Within four sessions, the pain began to go away. She started sleeping well. And for the first time, her body felt safe enough to let go.
In When the Body Speaks, Liz reveals:
- how stress and trauma live in the body
- how the nervous system and body learns to survive
- why symptoms often appear long after the stress
- real stories of women who healed
- how to stop blaming yourself
- a clear and grounded path forward
The book also includes fully illustrated somatic exercises and easy routines you can use right away to guide your nervous system out of survival mode and into regulation.
