My Journey With Somatic Exercise: How Somatic Exercise Changed My Life

Most people know me as The Workout Witch! (But you can just call me Liz!)

After completely healing myself from the debilitating side-effects that stored trauma was wreaking on my body, I wanted to introduce my revolutionary trauma-release regimen of somatic exercises to the world.

I'm now a Somatic Specialist with 14 years of clinical experience, 8 signature somatic exercise courses, and hundreds of thousands of happily healed customers.

I know — first hand — that your chronic pain, your complex anxiety, your inability to get out of survival mode, and your past trauma are all related. Now I'm committed to transforming the way future generations live. And it starts with somatic exercise!

Here’s my story… ⬇


I learned what anger was at an unusually young age.

My narcissistic father dealt with his emotions and feelings more physically than most — all with the excuse that his channeled rage was simply just “cultural” to him.

It was something that became an unfortunate constant for the duration of my childhood, affecting me in ways I could clearly recognize, but also in ways I never could.

So when I spent the better half of my twenties going in and out of doctor’s offices, searching for a cure to the manifestations of physical pain and the feeling of overwhelming anxiety I’d developed years before, the official diagnosis — time and time again — never faltered...

“You’re just stressed," they'd say.

Try and take it easier,” they’d say. “Have some Tylenol,” they’d say. “Maybe buy a better mattress,” they’d say.

And while I, of course, knew I lived with stress (who doesn’t these days???), I also knew that...

😵‍💫 this pain I was experiencing everyday

😵‍💫 and this inability to get out of bed somedays

😵‍💫 and the stomach issues

😵‍💫 and the depression

😵‍💫 and the anxiety

😵‍💫 and the brain fog

😵‍💫 and the tension headaches

😵‍💫 and (etc., etc., etc.)...

...would NOT be completely cured by taking it easier, or taking more Tylenol, or buying a better mattress.

And that stress (and stress alone) was NOT the major issue here.

First, these "symptoms" were manageable — an inconvenience, at best. And that inconvenience simply became my new normal.

But as the years went by, that inconvenience became intolerable, these symptoms became unbearable, and the life I was living became unlivable. My job as a backup dancer ended. My ability to get out of bed on most days faded. And with every doctor’s office visit, the answers to all the questions I was trying to ask were never actually answered.

That’s when I took my healing journey into my own hands with somatic exercise.

And I started to realize that western medicine would never actually provide me with the answer I was looking for.

Now, I’m not against Western medicine... But I also recognize this:

Western medicine is quick to treat the symptoms of our problems.

Extra-Strength Ibuprofen to get you out of bed in the morning. Xanax for the anxiety I was experiencing. Massages for the tight hips I was walking around with everyday.

But these things weren’t doing the thing I needed most. And that was for these symptoms to go away… for good.

In my mid-twenties, I was introduced to somatic exercise.

Somatic exercises are gentle movements that connect your physical body and emotional body to your nervous system and somatic memory — allowing you to actually treat the physical manifestations (aka. symptoms) that every body experiences from going through both physical and psychological traumas, by addressing the trauma itself

Because, it turns out, your body deserves better than what it’s used to.

I’ve been changing the conversation around trauma and anxiety for over 14 years now. And specifically, how trauma, anxiety, stress, and emotional experiences are all connected to the aches, pains, and symptoms we’ve been generationally programmed to just “put up with.”

The Workout Witch is my commitment to using somatic exercise to heal the millions of people suffering from these often overlooked side effects that stored trauma is wrecking throughout the body.
